Mijn naam is Mike en ik start deze actie voor mijn vader Louis. Mijn ouders zijn 2 jaar
geleden verhuisd naar België, om te genieten van hun welverdiende pensioen na jarenlang werken in
hun eigen Café Stuivezand.
Op het moment dat ze net waren verhuisd, liet mijn vader een ‘’check’’ doen bij de huisarts en hieruit kwam voor dat er een ruis op zijn hart te horen was, maar dit was niks bijzonders. Om ervoor te zorgen dat er later geen problemen zouden ontstaan en om alles ‘’beter’’ te maken werd er voorgesteld om een nieuwe hartklep te laten plaatsen, maar helaas was dit het begin van een grote nachtmerrie.
Op 13-02-2019 werd hij geopereerd en toen de klep goed geplaatst was en de operatie zo goed als klaar was, scheurde zijn aorta en hierop volgende een zenuwslopende operatie van 13 uur. Toen de
aorta gedicht was vielen een voor een zijn organen uit met een 3 maanden durende coma tot gevolg, en 6 machines die hem in leven hielden. Een voor een konden de machines worden afgesloten en
ontwaakte hij uit zijn coma, maar er was nog niet veel teken van leven.
Langzaamaan kwam er steeds meer leven in, echter door de coma waren zijn spieren zo verzwakt dat hij nog niets anders kon dan liggen, en praten was ook geen optie. Uiteindelijk na 7 maanden mocht
hij verhuizen naar een ‘’revalidatie’’ ziekenhuis en hier gingen ze proberen hem weer wat bewegingen aan te leren, maar dit ging helaas niet zoals verwacht en werd hij na 6 weken ontslagen uit het ziekenhuis en moest hij naar een woonzorgcentrum. Wonder boven wonder werd hij hier steeds sterker en nu kan hij zelfs al wat stapjes zetten plus goed communiceren. Nu nog steeds is er elke keer weer wat progressie.
Helaas zijn niet alleen de medische aspecten van dit verhaal een nachtmerrie, maar ook de financiële zorgen die erbij komen. Meerdere ziekenhuisfacturen van €8000+, medicatie facturen, therapie
facturen en natuurlijk de huur van het woonzorg centrum. Bovendien, als het zover zou komen dat hij weer ‘’deels’’ thuis zou kunnen wonen zijn hier ook aanpassingen en materialen voor nodig die ik graag zou willen aanschaffen.
Via deze weg probeer ik om in ieder geval wat financiële zorgen bij mijn ouders weg te nemen en om ze toch nog een beetje te kunnen laten genieten van hen pensioen.
My name is Mike Goossens and I am starting this crowdfunding for my father Louis. My parents moved to Belgium 2 years ago to enjoy their well-earned retirement after years of working in their own Café Stuivezand.
The moment they had just moved, my father had a "check" done at the doctor's office and it appeared that there was a noise on his heart, but this was nothing special. To ensure that no problems would arise in the future and to make everything "better", it was suggested to have a new
heart valve installed, but unfortunately this was the start of a big nightmare.
He had surgery on 13-02-2019 and when the valve was placed correctly and the operation was almost ready, his aorta tore and a nerve-racking operation of 13 hours followed. When the aorta was
closed, his organs fell out one by one, resulting in a 3-month coma and 6 machines that kept him alive. One by one the machines could be shut off and he awoke from his coma, but there was not much sign of life yet.
Slowly, more and more life came in, but the coma had weakened his muscles so much that he could only lie down, and talking was also not an option. Eventually after 7 months he was allowed to move to a '' rehabilitation '' hospital and here they tried to teach him some movements again, but unfortunately this did not go as expected and after 6 weeks he was discharged from the hospital and had to go to a residential care center. Miraculously, he became stronger and stronger here and now he can even take some steps and communicate well. Now, there is still some progression every time.
Unfortunately, not only the medical aspects of this story are a nightmare, but also the financial concerns that come with it. Multiple hospital invoices of €8000+, medication invoices, therapy invoices and of course the rental of the residential care center. Moreover, if it would come to the point that he could live "at home" again, this would also require adjustments and materials that I would like to purchase.
Through this way, I try to at least take away some financial worries from my parents and still allow them to enjoy their retirement a little.
