The Why
1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health illness in their life time. On June 30th 2022, my beautiful brother Sean died by suicide after battling Bipolar Disorder for 12 years. My brother was an incredibly smart and kind human being. He graduated top of his welding class a couple of years ago, and a few months before he passed had just started his dream job. It was an incredibly frustrating experience witnessing our health care system fail to support him while he was actively trying to seek help for months prior to his suicide. Something he often mentioned was that he wished mental health facilities could be more holistic. So in memory of him, 100% of the proceeds from this class will be going to CAMH Gifts of Light. The reason I chose Gifts of Light is because the donations go directly towards the patients experience in the hospital. Such as art and music workshops, adventure excursions, fitness classes, trauma-informed yoga, pet therapy, and care packages. To learn more about the impact your donation will have please click here https://www.camh.ca/en/your-care/patient-wellness/gifts-of-light to read about CAMH and Gifts of Light.
The Gratitude
Free virtual class - I want to offer a free virtual yoga class for those of you who are unable to join the in-person class. I will send more information with a date and time once the fundraiser finishes on May 30th. I am so grateful for every donation and I want to make sure I am able to offer something that is accessible to everyone.
Thank you so much for being a part of something beautiful and for donating in memory of my brother Sean. The positive impact this fundraiser will have wouldn't be possible without the support of amazing humans like you! It means so much to me, and I know it would mean so much to him.
