Hazmat Suits for Wuhan Doctors!

Spende geschützt
Earlier this month, a mysterious coronavirus started spreading in my hometown, Wuhan, China.  Within weeks, the virus has now infected nearly 1,000 people in Wuhan and has taken more than 40 lives.  This week, Wuhan has officially been quarantined: the city and its surrounding townships were shut down, all transportation in and out of the city has been cut off (including flights, trains, and highways).  20 million people are now confined in their homes, with their schools and workplaces indefinitely closed.  If you haven't heard about the coronavirus, here's an article with the most recent updates: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/25/world/asia/china-coronavirus.html.

Wuhan natives around the world have started fundraising campaigns to send aid to Wuhan.  The goal of these campaigns is to collect medical supplies, including respirator masks, hazmat suits, medical goggles, and surgical masks for medical professionals in Wuhan.  Because of the amount of suspected cases in Wuhan, hospitals have been overburdened with patients.  Doctors, nurses, and other medical staff in Wuhan hospitals are running out of medical protective gear like hazmat suits and masks.  Some doctors have even started reusing hazmat suits to continue working on their patients.

Almost all hospitals in Wuhan have started asking for donation and help from the public.  I have uploaded their donation pages in this post.

I am heartbroken to see my hometown suffer like this, and I want to do everything within my power to help.

This campaign is a small starter fundraiser.  The money raised will be used to purchase 200 DuPont Tyvell Coveralls (https://www.uline.com/Product/ProductDetailRootItem?modelnumber=S-11495).  I have included the quote I received from Uline below.

I have secured an airline company that is willing to send the coveralls to China free of charge.  I have also secured a customs clearance specialist in Changsha, China to help bring these supplies directly to Wuhan.

200 hazmat suits is a small start, but they will be so helpful for the doctors and medical staff during such a desperate time.  In the meantime, I am working to contact more medical supplies companies to secure more medical supplies.  I am also looking to connect with other folks doing the same kind of medical supplies drive.
