Hi there! I stream on twitch.tv/hazelazazelzel but you can call me Hazel! I am a nonbinary woman who streams games, art, and coworking, all while attempting to cultivate an inclusive community on Twitch.

After taking over a year to complete all the steps needed to make it possible for me to get a hysterectomy, I finally have my surgery scheduled for thus upcoming Thursday, April 9th! So why do I need this surgery, and why am I asking for $5,000?

There are three big reasons that I need this hysterectomy. Firstly, I have been on hormonal birth control for 10 years now not only to prevent pregnancy, but also to manage chronic Menorrhagia and Dysmenorrhea that guaranteed I was bedridden with extreme pain and nausea once a month thanks to my natural menstrual cycle. While the birth control has been mostly adequate to control these issues, it also has resulted in depression and anxiety that I now must control with yet more medication. Therein lies the second reason; getting off of birth control is a huge goal for trying to improve my mental health. Mental health also leads me to the third and truly the biggest reason - Gender Dysphoria. As a nonbinary woman, I have a unique relationship with my gender identity and expression. While my gender mostly aligns with the one I was assigned at birth, being on my period has always been nothing short of self-hatred inducing horror. The idea of growing a human inside me fills me with existential dread. However, the idea of waking up and knowing that I will never get a period again, that I will never get pregnant, fills me with a feeling of exuberant freedom. By donating to this GoFundMe, you will be directly aiding me in pursuing my own TRANS JOY and living as my most authentic self!

I am asking for $5000 because that is my in-network insurance deductible. This doesn't include lost wages from the time I need to take off, but it would at least cover what I'll be billed for the surgery itself. Anything at all helps, thank you so much for reading and consider donating.
