Hazel - Hit & Run

Hi! My name is Angelica and I started this Gofundme because Hazel’s medical bills are getting way too high for me to handle on my own.

On May 4th, 2022, Hazel got out of my yard and was hit by a car. The guy saw her, slowed down, hit her, and stopped. However, as soon as she ran away, so did this guy. I did ask the police for help multiple times but was turned away.

Luckily, no bones were broken, there was no internal bleeding, or anything major. Except her right arm was degloved. For the past month we have been going in for bandage changes every two days.

Unfortunately, even with sedation, Hazel has caused damage to her cones and casts 4 times, causing me to spend much more than has been necessary.

Today, June 4th, 2022, Hazel began going to the bathroom but it was only blood. She began vomiting excessively, so again, we rushed her to the hospital. This can mean one of two things:

She has caused a blockage in her intestines because she has continuously been chewing (and ingesting) her bandages, or she has inflammation of her intestines.

Either of these diagnoses means more treatment along with bandage changes and medicine. I’m asking for any help you can give.

I do have pet insurance but they do not cover it all. Out of pocket, I’ve spent over $3,000 and have to spend more. As many of my friends know, I own a home and have two other dogs to take care of. I hate to ask for help, but in this situation I’m finding that I really need to.
