Hazard Rd Lights 2024
Donation protected
This display has 150,000 lights roughly. The labor required to install and take down (yes, it all comes down due to sun damage and animals) takes 310 man hours ($30/hr is over$10,000) It requires maintenance daily. Sanding and plowing the county road, driveway plowing, light repair, and traffic control. This takes another 2 weeks of time and resources. Each year light technology changes and new lights are added, including computers and songs ($250). The cost has been an average of $10,000 to $12,000 to make this happen. This is covered the PROFIT from Diamond Landscape Service.
I started putting up lights in the 1980's to bring Christmas spirit to the neighborhood. It brought tour buses by my parents home back then. My brother and I had 7,000 or so lights up. I saw the excitement and joy in the kids excited parents enjoyed the holiday cheer.
In the 90's I started my Landscape business which included putting up light displays for customers. Providence house had 12,000 lights. I moved to the current location to expand the business, which was a great location to expand the light show. The light show titled Steve's House has been growing. The community has enjoyed my work here since 2001.
The joy and excitement each year brings the community back, parents and kids alike.
Steve's House would be grateful for the help of the community to keep this running each year.
The show brings thousands here each season. If each person donated some money, then the show will go on. It's a great feeling to have, when little kids are hanging out of the vehicle and yelling, "we love the lights." Large or small amounts, we thank you all.
