Help Haylie With Chemotherapy
Donation protected
Hi. If you're here, you've come from my Instagram @amandagist and you already know that my world as I knew it crashed down when Haylie, my pup, was diagnosed with lymphoma on September 12th. The two weeks that have followed were filled with waiting for test results to find out Haylie's type of lymphoma and treatment options, meds, and lots of tears, snot, and meltdowns as I've fought the return of my depression under the weight of this diagnosis.
The call eventually came that Haylie has B-cell lymphoma, a type of lymphoma that would take her life within one month if not treated with chemotherapy.
Haylie and I will celebrate our 12 year adoptoversary on November 23rd, and for those 12 years she's not only been my vacuum cleaner when I drop food on the floor but has also been my lifeline. When I picked up and moved to LA, knowing no one, Haylie was my comfort and companionship. While I have yet to build a family of my own, Haylie needs and depends on me for care and love. In August of 2018, when I was at my lowest in my battle with depression and ready to take my life, Haylie was the reason I chose to stay, pained by how confused she would be if I chose to die.
Haylie started chemo on October 1st, after many long conversations with her oncologist, lists of questions, and learning that chemo in dogs doesn't have anywhere near the affects on quality of life that it has on humans. Haylie can be comfortable through treatment with only mild side effects (if any) and can gain 10-14 months for her life, seeing as she is healthy aside from the cancer. She will be enduring 6 months of chemo, approximately 18 treatments, at approximately $500.00 per treatment, which is where we are humbly asking for any donations that can be made to Help Haylie With Chemotherapy, no matter how small. Every little bit will help with the overwhelming cost of her care.
As I fight to give back to this beautiful being that has given so much to me and kept me alive, I appreciate each and every one of you who has sent positive thoughts, left words of encouragement, and put up prayers for us. You have surrounded Haylie and I in love and support during this difficult time as we walk forward into what the next 6 months will bring us. Thank you for who you are. I love you.
