Donation protected
My mom, Hayley Mythen, has been a resident of Bowen Island for over 30 years. You may have known her in the past as the friendly bartender at Doc’s, or more recently, as one of Santa’s elves at Light up the Cove.
In recent years, she has had some unfortunate medical problems arise. She had a fall on Christmas of 2018 and as a result, she needed her right shoulder replaced. The shoulder replacement was removed less than 2 weeks later due to infection and she is now left without a right shoulder.
Despite her life changing injury and disability, she has remained sober since 2018.
Due to her disability, she has not been able to return to full-time work. Me and my partner, Scott, are continuously supporting her each month, but she is generally struggling to make ends meet.
Over the past few months, her dental health has deteriorated rapidly. We have taken her to a dentist and a denturist and she will need most of her teeth removed and replaced by dentures. The total cost we have been quoted is around $10,000. This is above our means and is quite urgent, which is why we are reaching out to the community for help.
The Bowen Island community has always been supportive of our family and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your encouragement, kindness and friendship.
Thank you for helping bring back Hayley's smile ♥
