Hayley's Facial Feminization Surgery Goal

My name is Hayley; I am a 29-year-old trans woman living in the United Kingdom.

Being trans comes with its ups and down; one of the most significant downs that most trans people experience is something called gender dysphoria. For those who might not know what this is, gender dysphoria is a sense of unease and dissatisfaction that someone experiences. That unease can vary in size and come from one or more different sources. For example, I used to experience significant gender dysphoria regarding my "down-stairs", but thankfully via the NHS, I was able to get surgery for free. Since then, I no longer experience gender dysphoria in that specific area; and because of that, I feel happier and at ease with my body in regards to that area.

Unfortunately, the NHS only covers this one thing for trans women. Meaning that anything else causes the significant distress and discomfort that comes with gender dysphoria, can't be helped with. So the only option trans people like myself have, is that we have to fund these things by ourselves, which is what brings me here today, starting this GoFundMe.

For those that don't know, I suffer severely from mental health issues. Depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem are three big problems in my life regarding my mental health. These three combined make it difficult for me to do things others consider simple, like looking after myself and going outside for a walk. Which then makes things like learning to drive and getting a job incredibly difficult. There have been points in the past where my mental health has gotten so bad that I have attempted suicide. I often feel like a burden on my family because I cannot get anywhere in my life independantly. I am currently stuck at a point where I'm relying on benefit money to cover the cost of things like food, rent, travel expenses, and hopefully therapy in the future. While the gender dysphoria I experience isn't the source of my mental health issues, it's something that heavily influences them. And because of my inability to generate my own income, I am financially stuck and unable to afford other surgeries that would help me move one foot forward.

This is where GoFundMe comes in. The surgery I'm looking to get is called facial feminization surgery, which is somewhat self-explanatory. It's a surgery that covers the face, but it can vary depending on the recipient. For some, it can be multiple little surgeries; for others, it can be just two or three. For me, my face is something that brings me down because I know how masculine it looks. I've even had people coming up to me and insulting me personally because of how I look.

Regarding what exactly I'll be getting with facial feminization, I'll be looking to get type 2 forehead recontouring with an eyebrow lift and a rhinoplasty. I've had a lot of time to think about this, and it's something that I know will help me. Unfortunately, it costs about £20,000. This is a crazy amount of money that I can't afford and don't see myself being able to afford anytime soon. By getting this surgery, I'll feel more comfortable with myself, which can help reduce the overall distress and discomfort I feel regularly.

The place that I'm looking to get Facial Feminization from is called 2Pass. It's located in Belgium. Believe it or not, it's the cheaper option. There is a clinic in London but it costs more for the surgeries. But the reason why I chose it isn't because of its cost, it's because it's well known and well experienced in this area.
