Haydn and Cailee

Three days ago my son in law Haydn had a terrible, almost fatal car accident in North Perth. He was going on an errand for me to collect a laundry basket I had bought off MarketPlace after finishing teaching at his school when on his way home. He never got there as he got T-boned by another car who was possibly going 20kms too fast and his car flipped and then rolled not once but twice with the impact. Unfortunately Haydn had trusted another driver who waved him through the intersection and neither one of them saw the other car coming. So technically it was his fault. In fact the police have fined him for not giving way. Both cars and everything inside the cars like child seats etc are a write off.

We are thanking the universe and his lucky stars/guardians to still have him, He is incredibly lucky to be alive as the police and surrounding people thought he would definitely be dead after such an impact.

He was miraculously able to climb out of the car which landed side on and crawled through all the smashed windows and over to the other driver who was also very distressed, Haydn put his hand out and they just held hands in silence and awe of being alive till the ambulance and police got there. He was very lucky as the impact was on the passenger side, not the drivers...otherwise it might have been a very different and very horrific outcome.

Haydn has whiplash, lower back pain and swelling, numb toes and a very sore left knee which was checked out by the hospital and no bone breakages or internal bleeding thankfully, but now has to be monitored, He can’t even lift up his children. He will need to have Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Remedial Massage appointments plus lots of rest, along with healing and dealing with deep shock. In fact the whole family are in deep shock and post traumatic stress. Their little boy River who is almost 4, is very traumatised.

The big issue is he thought along with most other people, including the other driver, that the other car was covered under third party insurance through the car registration. The people are covered for personal injury but not he vehicle itself. Huge lesson! This was both of their misunderstanding around Car Registration. So many people think the same way unfortunately.

This means that Haydn now has to pay out the other party and somehow find the money to cover her car which has a value of $10000 and then find some money or means to buy a little car to drive to school each day as he is a Special Needs Teacher dealing with kids who are mentally and physically challenged and can be violent at times. It's a really tough job. Along with all the other costs that have come up for various things due to this unforeseen event. He would ride his bike two and a half hours to work but with the back and knee injury it’s clearly not advisable and it’s a very long way.

They are a young family with two little ones and my daughter has also just been diagnosed with mould disease after trying to work out what her past year of health issues have been about. This was created from being in previous rentals sadly. It’s costing quite a bit of money and will be ongoing. They are on a very tight budget and it’s going to take a few years to heal her. We are all trying to support them to resolve this additional issue as a family.

I am reaching out as a very concerned Mother and asking on behalf of them for your loving and kind support to help them pay off the other party and have a little left to buy Haydn a little run about car to get to his work.

I would be deeply grateful to you, for any contribution big or small to support them, in this very stressful time.

It’s a hard thing for me to ask for help and I know they would not ask, hence I am finding the courage to do it for them.

Once again and from my heart, I am deeply grateful for any donation or if not possible then just your love and kind thoughts their way.

Thank you,
Odette
