Hello, my name is Ashley Hairston and I am taking donations for my son Hayden's nonprofit organization. Hayden was born November 9, 2010, but sadly he passed away April 11, 2022, from a severe asthma attack on the first day of spring break, he was only 11 years old. Hayden was a vibrant child, full of life and his smile would light up a room. Hayden was the child that you wanted to be around because he was full of entertainment, whether it be information about dinosaurs, him debating you on a sports topic or just him charming you into getting his way; you always were in for a show. Hayden was diagnosed with asthma before his 2nd birthday and had his first real asthma attack in Sept of 2013 two months shy of him turning 3, and was admitted to Brenners Children's Hospital. On April 1, 2014, Hayden had a huge flare-up at home and was sent and admitted to Brenners again for his second severe asthma attack. At that point, we were determined to make sure that Hayden understood his condition, and how to detect and control it so that he could live a normal life. Hayden continued to thrive as a child and was able to do anything he put his mind to. He was very good at drums, loved basketball and also played football. He had a love for cooking, enjoyed hanging out with friends and always wanted to help whoever he could with any task they needed. He was extremely a joy to have around. On April 11, 2022, Hayden began experiencing flare-ups while at home and began taking his breathing treatments. Around 6 pm Hayden notified me that he was feeling okay and felt better, but by 6:40 things drastically changed. Hayden had a full-blown asthma attack and immediately stop breathing. CPR efforts were started by myself and continued by a neighbor until the paramedics arrived. Hayden was rushed to Brenners as they continued their efforts to revive him but were unsuccessful. At 8:08 pm he was pronounced dead. That day forever changed my life. Throughout this entire year, I have been trying to find a way to honor my son's life and not leave his name in vain. I knew how much Hayden loved to help people no matter their age and I wanted to continue that in his legacy so what better way to do that than to create a foundation in his name. With this foundation, I want to be able to offer scholarships to deserving high school seniors, I would like to sponsor young athletes that may not be as fortunate as Hayden was with sports fees, equipment etc. I also would like to be able to offer holiday events for children with things like back-to-school drives, and toy drives, as well as events for children during the summer just to have fun and enjoy themselves. I would also like to provide asthma awareness with this foundation. With Hayden, I strived to make sure that he was aware of his condition and knew all of his signs and or triggers and I want to assist with helping others gain the knowledge as well as bring about awareness as much as I possibly can. Today marks one year of Hayden's passing and today is the day that I wanted to launch The Hayden Zheir Foundation. In his remembrance, I am asking for any donations that can be spared to help get his foundation off the ground. I know that Hayden is smiling down and so excited and I appreciate anything that is given! Thank you so much from Hayden Hairston family and loved ones.
