Hayden began to feel unwell in October 2022. After a positive Covid test he assumed his lasting cough was a consequence of that and put off additional treatment. As other symptoms began to present rapidly in January & February 2023, he landed in the emergency room short of breath. He was admitted to South Sunflower County Hospital on Monday February 27, 2023 & transferred by ambulance to Vicksburg where a CT scan revealed a large tumor in his chest. He was transferred by ambulance again to UMMC in Jackson, MS where initial biopsy results show a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Hayden has endured several costly procedures to drain fluid from his lung and chest cavity, multiple x-rays, biopsies, cultures, and bloodwork. He will have a PET scan to stage his cancer & Chemotherapy is the next step in his treatment.
Hayden is 22 years old, uninsured and could use help with medical, travel, and living expenses over the next several months. His family is applying for some grants and benefits for him, but as we all know, that is a time-consuming process and Hayden needs treatments now.
Hayden is a kind and gentle young man who would do anything to help someone else in need, but never asks for anything in return. He is a hard worker and always has a SMILE on his face. His family loves him beyond measure, but it is beyond even their combined means to handle this amount of financial burden.
