we’ve had some great news this week and have managed to get the overall cost down! We are now so close to what we need for Hayden to have his chair!
Hayden has Cerebral Palsy and relies on his wheelchair to get him around, unfortunately due to his disability Hayden struggles to propel himself for long periods of time or over rough terrain. This means a limit to his independence as he often relies on carers and family members to wheel him around.
Hayden is in need of a powerchair to assist him in everyday life, however due to the strict funding regulations he is not eligible for funding from the local wheelchair service.
By providing Hayden with this power chair, this would not only help him excel further in his animal management course at college, but also build friendships with his peers that is currently restricted as he requires a carer at all times and subsequently isolates him from young people his age. Unfortunately Hayden's mum Emma my sister passed away 2 years ago, which put a hold on any plans to get him the chair he needs.
A power chair would mean he has more independence is able to build his confidence and also help him forge his way into adulthood. Hayden turns 18 in April and we would love if he could celebrate this with a power chair.
