Haydee Munoz-Ortiz (Suliveres Centeno)
or as some of us knew her as “My Tita”(Mamita/Grandmother), Titi, or even sometimes Heidi, passed away over the weekend, after a very quick and aggressive battle with cancer. In a matter of two and a half weeks she went from driving and walking around FL, to losing her battle.

My grandmother didn’t have much. She was a widow who raised three children, and helped raise her three loving grandchildren. She loved her family fiercely, and tried to protect them, and because of that, we all loved her with all of our hearts. She loved so many of us over the years, between her parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family, and more; I would be hard pressed to find one person who didn’t love her. It’d also be impossible to list everyone she loved in one book.

I always feel bad asking for help, but for my Tita I would do anything. She always showed me unconditional love, and every time I saw her was like a small celebration of my visit, where I was showered in hugs and kisses.

My Tita, while very loving, may not have been the most organized person in the world. As such we aren’t sure what insurance she had, if any, and are trying to help my retired mother figure out and afford the expenses of this loss on her limited budget. Paperwork has been hard to find and as such my mother and uncle have had a lot of anxiety trying to figure out how to cover these expenses.

Haydee’s last wish was to be buried in Philadelphia, with her son Ritchie, in New Cathedral Cemetery. With her passing in Sebring Florida, getting her home without funding is impossible. We also expect normal funeral expenses. In addition, a number of expenses outside of my mother’s capabilities, were also incurred for care and medical supplies as the hurricane greatly delayed approval for medical care. We were also told to expect potential legal fees normally associated with death and taxes.

With everything we are estimating that around $15k would be needed. We’ve never done this before, and with inflation, and Haydee’s travel /funeral costs, they may need the full amount.

The family appreciate any and all donations with all of our hearts, and will return any excess donations we collect.

We will update this page and Facebook with the information for the service once we are able to finalize plans.

With Love,
Brandon S.
