Hello, my name is Ginger (Murphy) Milne. I am a dog trainer in Hay River NT and have lived here my entire life. Currently, I am assisting the Hay River SPCA in providing animal care and completing animal rescue in Hay River NT after our town was evacuated on Sunday Aug 13th due to devastating wildfires. Over the last few weeks myself and a small group of dedicated volunteers have been caring for over 30 pets that sadly could not be taken during the evacuations. Since the original evacuation on Sunday some dogs are still missing from a collision on highway 2. Two dogs have been found so far, but I am still tirelessly working to trap the other two. These dogs are likely injured, hungry and very scared. I am trying to raise funds for supplies that will go towards humane trapping equipment, basic animal care supplies and medications for wounded animals. We are still hopeful in reuniting these beloved dogs with their families as well as dedicated to maintaining the care for all the pets in town until the evacuation is lifted.
