Hay for Tolani Lake Community
Donation protected
I am working with community member Jonathan Yazzie to purchase100 bales of hay and cover the expense of hauling the hay for community members in Tolani Lake. The best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in these Communities is for community members to organize the purchase of hay for the community then distribute to elders. We are looking to purchase the hay this week June is the driest month in this region and the livestock need some extra nutrition.
Tolani Lake on the Navajo Nation is home to about 640 people, it sits near a now dry basin and within the former Bennett Freeze zone, which prevented the community from engaging in any improvements to infrastructure or any construction, which has hampered the creation of a strong local economy. The economic impact of COVID-19 has made it difficult for many community members to provide for their livestock.
We would be grateful for the support to help elders get their livestock through this dry season. Thank you much!
