Haven's Road to Recovery Fundraiser

Hello everyone my name is Kristin Brant and I am Haven Hicks' mom. As most of you all know Haven was in a bad car accident November 23. Some how by the grace of God my girl is still with us and I am so very thankful.
Haven was heading home from Springfield when another car started coming into her lane, Haven tried to avoid that car by go over to the shoulder and unfortunately that's when she ended up rolling her car 4 to 5 times at least. The car landed on the roof and some how she was able to undo her seat belt and crawl out of one of the windows. Once the ambulance had gotten to her she was able to get into the back of it and sit on the bench. On the outside she had no physical injuries besides a few minor scratches and seat belt burn. When they started asking if she had any pain she mentioned her neck, back and abdominal area. Her grandma made it to the scene and asked the EMT's to bring her to Mercy hospital in Springfield. Upon arriving they took her straight to a trauma room and begin running several tests, xrays and CT scans. It was quickly determined she had internal bleeding in her intestines and the surgeon came in to explain the plan needed going forward. It was determined she needed an emergency surgery to see why she had internal bleeding, he mentioned to us that this type of injury could cause part of the colon to die and quit working and that they may need to remove some of it. After speaking with Haven, my self and her grandma it was decided to go on with the surgery.
Surgery went well. They did not have to remove any of the colon but they did have to repair a tear in the colon as that is what was causing the bleeding. She has a large cut in her abdominal area from the procedure. The last few days and the incoming days and weeks will be rough and have been rough so far.
Haven is still in the hospital and we do not have a release time frame right now according to the doctor that came and seen her this morning.
Physical and occupational therapy have been in here twice today (yesterday as well) and have mentioned she will need outpatient therapy treatment once released from the hospital. She is looking at the possibility of needing 6 to 8 weeks recovery time.
I've been by her side since the moment I found out what happened and I plan on being by her side as much as I can during her at home recovery as well.
Many people have asked how they can help during this difficult time and this is the best way I can think of right now. Since she will be off work, she will not have any income during this time. Therefore she will be needing financial assistance to help with her monthly expenses.
If you are able to donate in anyway we truly appreciate it. If not that's OK too, but please please please keep sending your love, good thoughts and prayers.
Haven told me when she realized she was going in to the accident that she just started praying to God to protect her and do what he could to save her. She is living proof right now that he was there with her!
*From Haven* Thank you everyone for all the love, support and prayers. Sorry I cannot answer everyone but please know I see all your posts, comments and messages. God is good! Always wear your seatbelt, because if I would not have had mine on there is no telling what the outcome would have been.
