Haven Music Hall is a cultural event space, bar, and cafe located at 201 Union Street in the heart of Uptown Saint John, New Brunswick and will be opening its doors this fall. Drawing inspiration from past local venues such as Taco Pica, Haven aims to be an inclusive environment for artists and audiences alike.
What we're fundraising for;
We are fundraising to purchase an in-house professional PA system. Having a dedicated sound system at our venue will set us apart and allow us to uphold national standards of music presentation and allow emerging artists to hone their craft. A dedicated, in-house PA system will also allow us to train and employ live sound technicians for years to come, an important part of the creative ecosystem that we want to foster. This sound system allows us to confidently bid for touring artists, and high-quality equipment is an important component of ensuring the safety of staff and performers.
All support is appreciated! Whether you can support us with $20, $500, or by spreading the word that we'll be opening soon, we are so grateful for our community's support! If your company is interested in a sponsorship relationship with Haven Music Hall, please reach out to email@example.com and we can discuss our stage sponsorship tiers!
Individuals who donate $500 or more will be invited to our private Sneak-Peak Party at Haven Music Hall before we open!
About Haven Music Hall;
Owners Abigail Smith and Sidney Foy have deep roots in the music community in New Brunswick. Growing up in Sackville, NB, they fell in love with DIY festivals and venues. After relocating to Saint John, they have worked together in many capacities, as opening staff of restaurants and bars, production support for recording projects, and festival venue management. Because of the difficulties the pandemic caused the local music community, Abigail and Sidney knew it was time to realize something they had talked about doing for years; opening their own music venue.
“We knew not only that it was the right time for a small, safety-focused music venue in Saint John but also that we can support each other professionally and personally through the most uncertain of circumstances.” - Abigail Smith
By day, Haven will operate as a cafe, prioritizing creativity, inclusivity, and socialization. By night, the space will transform into a music venue with a standing-room capacity of approximately 100 people. Abigail and Sidney have been renovating their space on Union Street since February 2022. Their commercial unit is in a storied building, which originally housed the Saint John Opera House, required major renovations which have been greatly supported by the Saint John Tool Library.
“In my perfect world Saint John would have a world class music venue; inclusive, diverse and run by people who love music and the arts, and frankly my dream is about to come true. I cannot imagine two more perfect people to run a music venue here in SJ than Sidney Foy and Abigail Smith and I’m excited to imagine what they and our community will do with Haven." - Peter Rowan, artist manager, promoter, and festival provocateur.
"I have seen first hand how true grass roots initiatives can help to shape communities in Saint John for the better. We have hosted multiple music venues at the Saint John Tool Library that Sidney and Abigail have led or supported and we know that I creates a unique and supportive environment for artists and residents. They have the determination and experience to see a project like this through to the finish line and we couldn't be happier to lend our support to their initiative at Haven Music Hall. It's truly a missing link for our growing arts community in Saint John." Brent Harris, Counsellor at Large, Executive Director of the Saint John Tool Library.
