Most of you know my daughter Jessica. Her husband Sepp and her were blessed with the birth of their second child June of this year. This beautiful baby girl was given the name Haven.

Haven was born on 6/21/2022, less than 12 hours after birth she was diagnosed with hyperbilirubinemia due to blood type incompatibility. She spent 4 days in the NICU before being discharged.

On 7/21/2022, at only one month old, Haven began to show signs of extreme distress, she was inconsolable and spiked a fever. She was admitted to Children’s hospital for suspected meningitis. After hours of testing, including a spinal tap, it was discovered that Haven has streptococcus agalactiae, commonly known as group B strep. This is a serious blood infection that can cause meningitis and sepsis. Haven requires a minimum of 10 days of IV antibiotics, and round the clock care, so she must remain hospitalized for the entire time.

Our family is so blessed to live in an area with a fantastic Children’s Hospital.

While Jessica is still on maternity leave, Sepp changed jobs right before the pregnancy to improve their family life and does not qualify for FMLA or paternity leave yet. Jessica has pretty much been in the hospital room around the clock since last Thursday, and Sepp take small breaks to run errands for Jessica or to come over and sneak a visit with Enzo, who has been staying with us.

Any assistance with the medical bills for the NICU or the current ICU stay or assistance to help with the expense of food they have experienced and will continue experiencing until they are able to go home, is appreciated.

Her 10th day of antibiotics is Sunday and we are praying they will be able to all be home together at that time. God Bless you all!
