Reddit - COVID: Supporting Joy Bullock

On November 20th, my father, Tereso Trinidad passed away due to COVID-19.
As a healthcare/hospital worker, this has been nothing short of heartbreaking. I truly thought we were doing everything to keep him safe - he was the type of guy who even wore his mask when he was mowing the yard. That said, when I went to go drop off some items to him at the hospital - two nurses pulled me into a side room and I already knew. Everything dropped out from underneath my feet.
My mom, Joy Bullock, loved him since before I was born. When they were finally able to get back together in 2004, I knew that they were happy and from that point on their lives were dedicated to one another. The last sixteen years have been nothing but joy for my mother. And in the last three years they have gotten to share the love of a grandchild - their Rufio.
Unfortunately my father had no life insurance policy and my mother has little to no income. She will be moving in with my spouse, my son, and me in the upcoming weeks. I have set this up for her to help her pay off her back rent for the 2020 year (over half a year behind due to the pandemic) and any remaining bills that they had. The financial assistance will also aide in the move to our house and allow her room to breathe with the loss of my father.
