Ryann was born with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which is a genetic heart condition that causes enlargement of the muscle and eventually heart failure. Despite this, she has lived a wonderful 31 years and touched so many in a short time.
Ryann is a Certified Vet Tech and animal enthusiast. She enjoys spending time with her hairless cats and wife. She’s a talented artist and has a huge passion for all things Disney.
On Sunday May 28th, Ryann’s heart condition took a turn for the worse. She went into sustained ventricular tachycardia requiring over 20 shocks to her heart over the past week to correct the rhythm. She has undergone 2 cardiac ablations but unfortunately they have not been successful in eliminating the lethal rhythm. Because of this and the whole picture of her health at this time, Ryann has been recommended to receive a Total Artificial Heart device as a bridge to heart transplant. This device will replace the bottom half of her heart and pump her blood for her.
Ryann is currently undergoing surgery to implant the Total Artificial Heart. She will require multiple surgeries and at least 1 month recovery in the ICU. Once home, she will be unable to work and will require 24hr care to ensure the device is constantly powered and working as this device replaces her current heart.
We appreciate all the positive thoughts, prayers, and efforts being made on Ryann’s behalf. Her journey will be long and incur substantial cost to her wife and family. Any contribution is much appreciated.
