On April 27th, Jeff was in Shreveport, LA to pick up some belongings and suffered a massive heart attack. With 99% blockage in the main artery and 70% in another, they put 3 stints in and worked over 12 hours to stabilize him. Infiltrations in the lungs, broken ribs from CPR and a damaged shoulder from the fall are included in the list of problems. Intubation, twelve IV bags with some central lines, 100% breathing on ventilator, 3 different meds controlling 100% of his heart rhythms, 4 different meds to control blood pressure, liver shock, imbalances in kidney, thyroid, potassium and glucose (requiring insulin shots), 2 bags of plasma, one unit of blood and breathing treatments have taken him from acute critical care to being in a regular hospital room throughout a week and a half following the event.
At this point, Jeff has been sitting up more, taken a few steps and is working on getting off the feeding tube. He has amazed the Drs with his strength and rapid improvements. Jeff and Beth have been so grateful for all the help they have received throughout this ordeal, including all the prayers. They have seen God’s work in so many people and so many ways.
From here, Jeff will need to receive in-hospital physical therapy for rehab. The problem with this is that their WA state insurance will only cover emergency treatment out of state and he isn’t well enough to travel home. Please consider donating to help this family cover medical and incidental expenses while trying to give Jeff the best possible care.
