Jayden is my son, a 10 year old boy who lives in Warwick,  NY.  He was born with a congenital heart disease known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome(HLHS). He had 3 open heart surgeries to repair his heart by the time he was 4 years old as well as a feeding tube and numerous cardiac catherizations. Over the years he has had to have a few stents placed in his heart and just this year a blood clot in his aortic arch which thankfully was dissolved with medications. He also has DiGeorge syndrome. In 2016, he was diagnosed with scoliosis and had spine surgery later that year to place rods in his back. In 2017 he was diagnosed with a rare condition that some people develop related to his heart condition called Protein Losing Enteropathy(PLE), where his body has a difficult time absorbing proteins, electrolytes and important nutrients. He has been receiving weekly infusions and taking a lot of medications to try to keep the condition as stable as possible. Unfortunately, that isnt enough anymore and a small percentage of people with this condition need a heart transplant and Jayden is now one of those people. He was listed on the transplant list at the end of October and is currently living in the hospital waiting for his new heart. The waiting period can be extremely long and the recovery process after the transplant just as long.

Jayden loves sports!!!! When he is well enough he plays baseball and basketball. His favorite teams are the New York Yankees, the Seattle Seahawks and the Golden State Warriors. He is a HUGE fan to all 3 teams. Jayden is an amazing boy who shows people around him what true courage, strength, believing and never giving up are all about. He is liked and loved by everyone that meets him. He never complains about the medical challenges he has faced for 10 years and what hand life has dealt him. He ALWAYS remains positive and is in good spirits!!
