Ultimately Ed is in need of a new heart, but while he waits patiently, he will be undergoing a surgical procedure for a life saving device called an "LVAD" (a left ventricle assisted device) which will assist his heart to pump his blood.
This entire procedure requires a 6 week long hospital stay 117 miles from home, along with 24/7 care afterwards. His wife, Karen ( my niece) travels this 117 mile ONE WAY trip often until the procedure is done, then she will be required to stay until further notice.
Currently, Karen cannot work because Ed requires her to be at the hospital or near. Karen simply cannot afford to travel back and forth daily.
The following is Ed's story.
Ed is now 52 yrs old. When he was in his early 30's, Ed went through a quintuple by-pass, a quardruple by-pass, an annuloplasty ring, and a pacemaker/defibrillator due to his congestive heart failure. In 2016, he underwent an ablation procedure to remove scar tissue from his heart.
Since May 2017, Ed has been shocked eight times.
Due to all the damage done by the heart attacks and syncope episodes, it has left his heart in a very weakened state.
Now, today, Ed is in dire need of a new heart, but it is not strong enough to wait for an available heart, so this is why he is scheduled for the LVAD.
This "Go Fund Me" campaign is to
aid in the copays for Ed's medical costs and household bills which are stacking up very quickly.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ED AND HIS FAMILY.
ED IS A GOOD MAN, AN AWESOME FATHER AND GRANDFATHER.
HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIS GRANDBABIES GROW.
