I write to you in spite of shame and doubt.
This year has been defined by financial hardship in spite of my consistent job hunting efforts. I have yet to land a job as a highly qualified and hard working professional. Thankfully, I have been staying afloat through freelance work, city resources, and community support, but it was not enough to keep up with monthly bills. Through the work of a volunteer lawyer, my landlord has agreed to delay my eviction with a payment plan throughout the remainder of my lease.
Many of my life goals – personally, professionally, and creatively – have remained on pause since losing my job of three years in August 2025 due to the influence of Trump’s executive orders coinciding with the end of my contract.
2026 marks my ten year anniversary since moving to Boston. I have worked to manage my mental health, overcome my suicidality, and reach milestones in my gender affirming transition. Experiencing safe, secure, and stable housing has allowed me to flourish and heal in many ways.
I hope to continue achieving major life goals in the future, such as: updating my identification documents, buying a car, owning a home, leading a nonprofit organization, and becoming a creative powerhouse; but first and foremost, I need to focus on my day-to-day survival.
I experience a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility towards living and thriving authentically. Navigating my journey has been all the more fruitful with beautiful and inspiring community members serving as my guides and respite. I hope to be a resource and a safe space unto others as a way to pay forward all of the love, support, and trust I have received throughout my life.
I write to you embracing the knowledge that our survival is interconnected and interdependent as we each face systemic cycles of oppression intended to manufacture scarcity, fear, and hatred.
Thank you for your time.
