Help Me Become a Chekhov Teacher!

Hi there! My name is Haulston Mann and I am an actor in the DFW area as well as a recent graduate from the University of Oklahoma School of Drama.  I've started this campaign to raise funds for tuition and travel to the National Michael Chekhov Association's Chekhov Teacher Certification on December 28-January 3rd. 

My Story

I first came into contact with the Chekhov Technique during my senior year at the University of Oklahoma and it immediately lit a fire inside me. This is a technique that empowers actors and reconnects artists with their imagination. In a world where it's popular to re-experience past events, this technique reminds actors that acting is supposed to be fun! And art should be more than the mundane things we experience each day. It's ART for crying out loud! 

After school I began to try and study this technique on my own as much as possible by reading Chekhov's texts and getting as much online content as I could get my hands on.  During this time I created a Vlog on my facebook page to keep myself accountable and the folks at Theatre Three asked if I would be interested in leading a workshop exploring the technique. We had a wonderful trial run, but we didn't have a high enough enrollment for the full four week workshop unfortunately. 



I have gotten to lead several workshops exploring this technique and each time I do I am always amazed at how excited it gets people about acting and creating! This excitement is what I want to learn how to share with the creative world and the NMCA Chekhov Teacher Certification Intensive can give me the tools to do that. If you choose to donate, you'd be directly contributing to my growth as an artist and indirectly contributing to the spreading of the joy for creating art! 



The Numbers
 
The biggest challenge of this campaign is that the workshop is December 28th! 

That means I'll need to withdrawl the funds on the 19th!!  

Here's what your donations are going towards:

Tuition 
A round trip bus ticket
A hotel for the week I am in Gainesville, Fl
Food for that week 
The percentage that go fund me keeps from donations

ANY donation is welcome! Seriously! $1 would make me very happy! Also if every one of my facebook friends donated $2 I'd make it no problem! 

However, here are some perks I came up with ;)

$10 - A hand written thank you note sent to you in the mail. Just comment your address when you donate! 

$20 - I will eat a banana in your honor. And share it for the world to see

$150 - After the intensive I will come to your community or organization and teach a FREE 2 hr Chekhov workshop

$225 - After the intensive I will come to your community or organiztion and teach a FREE 2 day weekend workshop totaling 8hrs on the Chekhov Technique.
