Haughton Funny Business Booster
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Haughton Funny Business!
In this time of pandemic and global uncertainty, many of us who have taken refuge in the arts are starting to realize not only our dependence upon artists but our own responsibility to support the people doing the work.
I am asking you to support Haughton Funny Business because Maya Haughton is an example of an artist already "doing the work." Building on her successes as an actor in improv (including work at Chicago's Second City and iO Theater ) Maya started Haughton Funny Business in 2019 with the vision of sharing the tools of improv with people around the world. Haughton Funny Business offers a variety of workshops dedicated to helping people “to more deeply connect with themselves and others" - from the basics of improv to Sexual Empowerment and Intimacy Building.
Please consider supporting Maya and her work. Particularly now, when Covid has abruptly ended the already-unreliable performance revenue that is the artist’s bread and butter, those of us who recognize the importance of a thriving artistic culture to the well-being of society must be prepared to support artists as they imagine a future for their work.
Your support is GREATLY appreciated!
Maya has set a fundraising goal of $5,000 in order to meet the following personal and professional needs:
- First off, a Sista’s got to eat. Help with my immediate needs (food, bills, rent, etc.) so I can fully focus on building my business is much appreciated.
- Expand web presence with a dedicated website and advertising. Right now I’m primarily using my Facebook and Instagram business pages.
- Obtain basic audio and video equipment in order to create good-quality voice over and video content to share both teaching tools and performance-related projects. I want to produce the best content that’s easily accessible to others in order for my business to thrive.
- Funds for continuing education in theater and women and gender studies. I feel as if this is an important step toward showing my students, both present and future, that I am dedicated to teaching them with a wealth of knowledge at the ready.
- Moving funds. Part of the vision of Haughton Funny Business is to continue connecting with students internationally. I have begun building interest in my workshops in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, which is where I would like to reside temporarily while coaching teams in-person and teaching online, while pandemic continues to restrict travel.
Thank you in advance for supporting this funny Woman’s dream!
