Hattie’s vet appeal

Donation protected
As many of you know, in November our little Hattie became really lethargic and off her food. She was taken to our local vets who put her on fluids and checked her bloods. Sadly, her blood results showed she was in total kidney failure and urged us to take her to the Royal Vetinary Clinic for supportive treatment.

Hattie took a turn and dramatically lost weight, not eating or drinking. They found foreign bodies in her stomach which had to be surgically removed. She started to improve a little. Sadly, they then noted her intestines were leaking blood and failing her, “fried” was the term used by the vet team, they touched them and they frazzled.

Her liver sadly started to fail her along with exceptionally high blood pressure. A tube was fitted into her neck to tube feed.

Fast forward a number of weeks in hospital and Hattie got to come home, her levels back to normal, her eating more and her tube was subsequently removed.

Sadly, Hattie went down hill quickly again, being readmitted to hospital on Boxing Day where she remains in critical condition. Her levels have again risen and all testing and work done does not make sense to the vets.

This week they decided a biopsy should be sent to America for further testing. They now believe Hattie has an autoimmune condition where her own body is attacking her kidneys, something that potentially can be solved and where Hattie can live a normal life again.

They have said they’re hopeful, they have said she has a fighting chance. We want her to come home, she is only just 5 and spent her birthday in hospital.

Unfortunately, insurance is long used and we are now in for about £16,000. Sadly this biopsy and continuation of care will increase this by a minimum of £4000. Short of selling our souls, we thought we would give this a try. Honestly anything helps and we appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers for our little Hattie.

Thank you all
