Hattie’s fight against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Donation protected
On November 15, 2023, our sweet Hattie Sue was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of our body’s germ fighting immune system. Hattie first noticed a lump on her neck in October and after consulting her doctor, it was recommended she get an ultrasound and then a biopsy. We were all devastated when the test results came back revealing Hattie has cancer. This type of cancer is highly curable although it requires a rather lengthy treatment regimen. We moved forward and found care with the Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center in Burbank California. They ordered a PET scan which gave her the diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. This means the cancer has spread to her spleen and bone.

Hattie, a young 29 year old, is originally from Durango, Colorado, and came to California for college at AMDA to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre. She has been blessed with making so many wonderful friends during her time in California and truly creating a family unit between them all. She has been working in the retail industry since college and has grown through hard work and dedication into becoming the assistant manager to her store. She is a bright, vibrant young lady who enjoys life, loves going to concerts and relishes in eating way too much pizza. Hattie’s true love is Taylor Swift, who she looks to for courage and inspiration. Her favorite album by Taylor is reputation, which she listens to spark motivation to fight this fight, as she is “ready for it” :) She has a wonderful group of friends and family around her to support her.

Hattie will be undergoing 12 rounds of chemo for six months. She had her first chemo treatment on December 15, 2023. She was forced to take a leave of absence from her retail job, as she will not be able to work. She will hopefully be able to receive disability wages for a couple of months during her treatments, but will need to pay the full premium to keep her health insurance. Hattie’s mom, Cindy, is coming in from Colorado to take care of Hattie during this difficult time and will also be taking a leave of absence from her job. Hattie will be facing many medical bills, insurance costs, student loan debt, rent, food and travel expenses for her parents during her treatment. Any donations will be used directly to help Hattie pay for her bills.

We have every expectation Hattie will beat this cancer but she needs to focus 100% on healing without worrying about her bank account. We are seeking any support to help Hattie with her mounting medical bills during this difficult time in our lives. Positive thoughts and energy is always welcomed too!!!!
