Hattie loved horses -- they were truly her spirit animal. We are honoring her by setting up a memorial fund in her name for 9 Wild Horses.
Carol Johnson is the steward for this small herd of wild horses in the Okanogan Highlands. By providing the herd with hay, grain and fresh water Carol keeps them close by and on private land. Sharing their story helps protect them from being shot at or going to slaughter. This herd doesn't grow because Carol tames and then finds forever homes for all of the herd's babies -- 26 young horses so far.
This herd adopted Carol 5 years ago, even though Carol had absolutely no horse experience. The food bill for the herd is overwhelming and privately funded. We invite you to join us today, on Hattie's birthday, and honor her memory by supporting the Okanogan Highlands Herd called 9 Wild Horses.
