Hat's off to Ron

Tax deductible
Hi I am Bruce Altemus and a liver transplant recipient. I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and kidney failure. I had to start dialysis and went 3 times a week for 4 hours each day. At this time I weighed 380# and I could barely walk. On April 26, 2019 I received my liver transplant at Allegheny General Hospital and spent 2 weeks there recovering. In April of 202 0 I was able to come off of dialysis as my new kidney was working . On June 1, 2019 I entered Atria Senior Living of the South Hills to continue my rehab; at this time I was wheelchair bound. In September I started using a walker and in November I was able to walk with assistance. I lost 120# walking 3 times a day; at first I could only do 300-400 steps. I am up to 10,000 steps a day and I need no assistance. My charity is Hat's off to Ron which helped me during my time of need with my transplant. Ron was a liver and lung cancer patient and he was a survivor. He beat squamous cell lung cancer in 2002 and liver cancer in 2010. Ron fought a hard battle but did not beat the diagnosis in 2016 of small cell cancer of his remaining lung. Ron would be pleased to know that he can still help others via this foundation. I will be running in Pittsburgh's "The Great Race" this Sunday, September 26, 2021 to raise money for the charity.  Please donate and help me reach my goal of $1000 to help this wonderful charity.
