Haïti Earthquake Relief (help for Port-á-Piment)
Good day, my name is Marie Emmanuela Nicolas. I am an American citizen originated from Port-au-Prince Haïti; I am a Registered Nurse by profession a wife and a mother to my only daughter. The reason why I created this page is to support my mom and Grand parents hometown of Port-a-Piment. Port-à-Piment is a commune in the Côteaux Arrondissement, in the South department of Haiti. A small coastal town which hold approximately 10000 people. Many of these families are gaining less than 1500 US dollars yearly. Because of it’s location Port-à-Piment has sustained many disastrous events from hurricane to heavy rain leading to flooding and damage to major road. On August 14th 2021 at 8:30am (GMT-4), a strong, shallow earthquake rocked southwestern Haiti . This earthquake caused multiple casualties leaving survivors homeless with impairment and hopeless.
The people in Port-à-Piment described the situation as a complete darkness and the town as uninhabitable unhealthy and unsafe. The survivors and healthcare providers of the quake are living in scarcity. While their home is broken down and or cracked they have to live in the streets lacking food, potent water and medical supplies. My goal is to form a rescue team and to collect up to $ 20000.00 dollars to purchase food and medical/emergency supplies to bring to them in this time of crisis. Primary health care is almost non-existent in this time. It is utmost important that help reach to them timely. I am not asking on behalf of any organization and don’t like to ask but I believe that this time it is necessary. I will make every effort to bring the supplies and food to the people in needs. Your contributions is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Marie
