My family and friends know our family's story of all we've gone through and up to this point, we have handled all our financial obligations by ourselves - it hasn't always been easy - particularly when Don began immunotherapy for his Stage 4 Melanoma a year ago--the out-of-pocket costs are very high bi-weekly. We are a proud family and have stood on or own feet--doing what we needed to take care of our finances and each other. Now we are asking for help. Our air conditioner died last week--kaput, too old to repair so we've had to order a new one to the tune of $5686. We live in south Florida--last week it was in the 90's--hot! Due to the type of traumatic brain injury Jamie has, she is unable to sweat so when the air conditioner konked out and temperature rose in the house--to 105 degrees and climbing, her patience with tolerating the heat was also kaput. Fans just weren't adequate but we did our best. Don took a nasty fall last week and broke his foot, the ligament on the bottom of his foot badly injured and he also sustained a deep puncture hole in his leg so it was impossible for him to get to where we store our rv, drive it to the closest campground and walk 2 miles back to get the car; he is the solo driver in our family. All American Air was able to get air into the house but not sure it will hold until the new unit arrives in 2-3 weeks. The new airconditioner and furnace/air exchanger is estimated to cost $5,686.00. If you could find it in your hearts to help us out to reach what we need, $2,500, we would appreciate it and be so very grateful. We are a proud family and this is a difficult thing to do--ask for help and wouldn't do it if it wasn't absolutely necessary. It took a week for me to get up the courage to ask for help....so here it is. To each of you who find it in your heart to help us--THANK YOU!! Joyce & Don Nichols and Jamie (our sweet Mimi Lee) God Bless you all!
