Help Hassan and his family to escape Gaza

I am raising money to help my friend Hassan and his family to leave Gaza and seek refuge in the UK.

I have been friends with Hassan for over 5 years. I have sponsored him in a small way over the years to help him and his family in Gaza. Hassan is the same age as my own son. He will be 35 this year. He has a wife, Rima, and 2 young daughters, Haneen, 7, and Maria, 3. Rima is expecting another child within a month.

Before the war on Gaza the family lived in Gaza City but they had to evacuate to escape the bombing and went to stay with Hassan’s grandfather in Rafah in the south. The bombing moved to Rafah so they had to move again, this time to a refugee tent outside of the city.

The conditions of live in Gaza have become intolerable- death, injury, scarcity of food, water and medicine, closure of all exits from the region. Civilians, many of them women and children killed, injured, tortured and humiliated by the military forces. Hospitals and schools bombed, operations being performed sometimes on the floor sometimes with no anaesthetic or electricity. Scenes of carnage we can only imagine. Unspeakable. Unthinkable. No one should have to endure this life.

“I was hoping stay in my country

And continue my life and build my future in the Gaza Strip

I never imagined that one day I would decide to leave the Gaza Strip

But the war destroyed all our dreams and our future

I want to save my life and the life of my family - my wife and my 2 young daughters -before it is too late

Death is getting closer and closer to us

We have no source of income. The situation inside the Gaza Strip is very difficult and disastrous. Death, destruction, terror, fear and a huge rise in prices. It will cost us thousands of dollars for me and my wife and daughters to leave Gaza through Egypt and fly to England. We need funds for visas and flights and living expenses. We need to get out of the war before we lose our lives.
