#TeamT's Medical/Rehab costs

Family and friends,

I come before you with feelings of utter humility and displeasure.  If you can imagine the ancient posture of prostrating yourself, of bowing with your head to the ground, that is how my spirit comes before you.

As you all know, my sister, Tiana Alderson, was in a serious motorcycle accident on 6/6/16.  Daniel Cruz went home to be with Jesus on that day, and we thought that T might as well.  However, God seems to have more for her to do on this Earth and we are so thankful and blessed that she was spared.  I'll never forget the call from my Dad saying "T was in an accident".  I'll never forget calling the ER, and having the Trauma doctor say "This is bad, you should come".  I'll never forget seeing her with all those tubes and wires and in that moment realizing that what my sister needed from me was strength for her, my parents, and my family and friends, not me crying over her or blaming anyone or moping.

And so as an act of obedience to what is best for her, I ask a question that I hate to ask.  I have always loathed requests for money.  I don't know if it's the Jewish blood in me, but I absolutely 100% HATE asking for monetary support.  I remember those missions trips and how they would have you try and raise money and even then as a kid I didn't like it.  That feeling of trying to convince or woo people to your cause, to get them to loosen their purse or wallet, it felt wrong.  Believe me, I know how to pull on those tears and to twist hearts.  I can write a passage to make angels weep and devils repent.  Could post pictures of her beaten, tubed, and in pain.  But today, I ask plainly and simply: will you consider donating to my sister's recovery?

T's road ahead is uncertain.  The doctors hope for a full recovery but admit that she might never get there.  If you know anything about Tiana, you know what the arts and theater means to her.  This is what she has worked YEARS for, dreams that have been instilled for a LIFETIME.  And we do not know.  She might never be able to climb a ladder and fix a light.  She might never be able to see clearly enough to differentiate between similar colors.  She might never cognitively be able to put together a show or even participate.  Or she could fully recover.  She could go back to school in August, finish her Masters, and give my parents, Franceen, and I front row seats to her smash hit on Broadway.  We simply do not know.  Theater is her life, her soul.  For a glimpse into it, click -> here.

And that is why I am here.  Because of the unknown.  Tiana has insurance from her school, which covers basic things, and we are trying to see if we can receive anything from her auto insurance, but we simply don't know.  Rehab is incredibly expensive (almost $3000 a day), and along with that are the costs for transportation, at least one more surgery in a few months to remove the screws from her back, outpatient physical therapy, and much, much more.

I told my sister she was a dummy...that if she had waited another 8-10 years I could have been her doctor and taken care of her.  But like always, my sister is a pain in my backside and has to do things her way.  Her weakness though is just an overdone strength.  She is an incredibly driven women, a complexly talented lady, and the best sister I could ask for.

So I would ask for your support during this time.  If you feel "all you can manage is prayer", then I would remind you that prayer moves mountains, sends angels to flight, and beseeches the God who made heaven and earth to help.  That is more than enough.  Prayer is the most sought after support that we could ask for.

The love that my family has felt from the moment of the accident has been breathtaking.  There was never a moment where we were not surrounded by either people, prayer, or love.  So I know I speak for my sister when I simply say:
