Hashimoto's Herbies Warriors - Journey On Wheels
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Hashimoto's, no actually my real name is Treahna Herbertson & I am Hashimoto's Warrior - what is that you are wondering? Hashimoto's is an Autoimmune Disease, which means the body's immune system is attacking its own cells and organs. Hashimoto's disease is a common cause of hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).
After being diagnosed with Autoimmune Disease 'Hashimoto's August 2020, I wanted to find a way to help others that are going through the same condition. From the research I could find not many people talk or know about the disease.
While in lock down in 2020 I took up roller skating to help with keeping on top of my fitness as well as my mental health, with Hashimoto's you suffer from bad anxiety, panic attacks and depression.
Because not many people are aware of Autoimmune Disease - Hashimoto's I thought it would be a great idea to raise awareness by roller skating, yes something completely different!
Training started in January 2021 by working out at the gym 5 days a week (when I can due to lockdowns) and of course practicing roller skating. Scheduled to roller skate in November 2021 this was postponed due to COVID restrictions, so now I will be roller skating from 6 - 12 February 2022.
Due to being diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis later part of 2021, I started to learn how to skateboard to help with the pain in my feet when roller skating, I did not want to cancel what I have been working so hard for. So now I have changed the name to 'Journey on Wheels'
Herbies Hashimoto's Warriors 'Journey On Wheels' will take place on 6 - 11 February 2022 at Ballymanus Estate Central Park, Lucas (just outside of Ballarat) & then on Saturday 12 February Ballarat to Lexton. Unfortunately due to having Plantar Fasciitis my feet will not make the distance from Ballarat to Lexton on roller stakes as planned, instead I will be riding a push bike.
Bring along your skates, skate board, scooter, blades or push bike, would love to see you, plus will need your support.
Your donation will be put towards the expenses to Herbies Hashimoto's Warriors 'Journey On Wheels' and with money left over in honor of my loveable late mother who passed away with Cancer, I will be donating the money received to the cancer ward at St John Of God Hospital, Ballarat.
My goal is to provide support and understanding in dealing with Hashimoto's - we are warriors!
