Hi, my name is Erika and I’m fundraising for my dog, Harvey’s, veterinary care. It feels a bit weird requesting money like this but his continuous stay at the clinic has me at a loss for how to move forward.

Last Monday, Harvey had a routine appointment for a travel health certificate and has been in veterinary care ever since. The results are still unclear and his doctors call him a complicated mystery. They have concluded it could either be Addison’s Disease, juvenile kidney disease or a pancreatic insulin tumor. His body just isn’t filtering toxins correctly and his blood glucose levels are very low causing lethargy and loss of appetite. He has been on an IV, antibiotics and steroids to combat these issues but no definitive cause has been found.

A little backstory: I got Harvey, a Golden Retriever, at 8 weeks old. He was raised in Alaska as my hiking buddy and all-around adventure pup. He loves everything outdoors and is known to be very relaxed, sweet and friendly to everyone he meets. We have done everything together since the day I brought him home so this week has been very hard for both of us.

I have already spent $5,000 on his current care but as it continues the costs are becoming overwhelming. We are hoping his lab results will give us some answers into what is wrong and help create an effective treatment plan. The prognosis is that even with a chronic disease his quality of life won’t be affected with the proper medication.
