Harvey's journey with ALS
Donation protected
Harvey is my Dad. He's 74 and one of the hardest working fellas I've ever met. Late last year (2022), it became difficult for him to open a water bottle. He just chalked it up to the wear and tear of a lifetime of hard work. In fact, after he retired as an industrial supply salesman, he got a job at Target as a cashier. He loved it, and was still grinding at Target even as the mystery of his health continued to decline. Unfortuntely, this was just the beginning of a long road of unforeseen challenges in the months to come. The weakness in his hands continued to worsen. His voice started to change. He quickly lost weight. For several months, he underwent every medical test in the book. ( and maybe some that are not in the book). They mystery was solved in September. My Dad was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). I'm not sure he understands the cruel punishment this rare disease can dish out, but I know he can handle it. He's a worker. He shows up for the task. Now, at 74, he's faced with his most challenging task. In fact, after he was diagnosed with this terminal, incurable monster, he kept working at Target. It wasn't until his physical limitations became overwhelming that he decided to step away from work on October 18th. Harvey worked hard his entire life, yet most of his earnings went to support others. He felt strongly that it was his duty to fund others, even if it meant his savings account was empty. I'm starting this gofundme on his behalf because he won't ask for help, but he needs it.
All donations will be used for Harvey's extended care and medical expenses.
