We have made a lot of sacrifices to fight this terrible disease. My husband has had to quit his job of 20 years to be my full time caregiver, take care of our two children and accompany me to my treatments in Georgia every 2 weeks. We have given up our home in VA and have moved back to NC to be closer to family, we are currently living in our RV while we attempt to secure a house. Medical bills are piling up and we are buying insurance out of pocket. We have both always worked our fingers to the bone. Two jobs at times and even ran our own business for a few years while working full time jobs. It has always been difficult to ask for help. If we needed or wanted something in life we would WORK for it until we reached our goal. Now the thing we want most is to be able to afford the treatments that continue to extend my LIFE.
It’s one thing to accept help, this is another for me to ask for help.
Last weeks Liver procedure went well. The pain was nearly unbearable but I fought my way through it. We will find out in a week or so if it works to kill the 10cm tumor that they are targeting. Next up will be Cryotherapy on my Esophageal tumor again. This treatment is every 4 to 6 weeks. It keeps the tumor in my esophagus shrunken down enough for me to continue to eat. WHICH IS A BIG DEAL. Radiation on the tumor in my lung will be scheduled in the next few weeks. That's going to be another tough one!
What I want more than anything, to FIGHT and LIVE as long as I can and to have us together in a home with some normalcy. I’m asking for any help anyone can offer us at this point we’ve never been this bad off. We have hopes that by the end of summer we will be on track for the boys to start school settled in a new home.
This fighting cancer journey is very costly and I’m not sure where we would be without the help that’s already came our way the last year or so. We are very grateful. All glory goes to God who guides and strengths us.
With Love, The Harvey’s.
