My name is Armine Farmazyan, I'm 28 years old. I am an MD from Armenia, where I currently work as an hematologist in the adults Department of Hematology Center after Prof. Yeolyan in Yerevan. This is the only center in the country where people with hematological malignancies can get treatment and yet we have only 14 active working hematologist-doctors.
During my residency I spent 2 years in Perugia, Italy, in the Hospital of Santa Maria della Misericordia. In the research center of onco-hematology led by Prof. Falini for the first time in my life I got introduced to big science, I’ve seen modern labs and felt the opportunities to make big discoveries. For someone like me, who could have used only Soviet Union times microscopes, that was a life changing experience.
After returning back home and starting working as a hematologist in Yerevan I confronted many problems in my work: lack of the necessary drugs, low efficacy of the treatment, high mortality and poor outcomes. As a result, I felt inspired and motivated to start a research to find better therapeutic possibilities for hematological patients in my country and all over the world.
I applied and was accepted to Harvard Medical School’s High Impact Cancer Research (HICR) 2018-2019 program. The program has a tuition fee. I was given a 25% Harvard Medical School Tuition Reduction. Here are the details:
Program Tuition Fee: $11,900.00
HMS Reduction: $2,975.00
Balance Due: $8,925.00
1200$ were paid by the Bridge of health foundation, as deposit fee.
7725$ must be paid untill October 1st 2018.
I'm asking for financial support, because unfortunatelly the doctor's median salary in Armenia is so low I'm not able to cover all expenses by myself.
Please, help me to pay the tuition fee. Harvard is not just my dream, I believe it will be a breakpoint also for hematological research in Armenia.
