BIG NEWS!!! HARTT has our very own shelter! (Keep scrolling and reading for lots more pictures). It’s small and it’s simple and it’s been around for decades, but the “new” HARTT shelter will give us the room we need to emergency-house the animals we humanely trap prior to their direct adoption or transfer to one of our rescue partners. NOTE: This will NOT be a public animal intake facility.
For those of you who don't know about us, HARTT (Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team) was founded in 2017 - we are a nonprofit organization that humanely captures lost pets, homeless dogs, and homeless cats who are severely injured. We rescue animals who tend to run away from people and who cannot be easily leashed or picked up, using specialized training and humane capture equipment. We also support owners with lost pet searches and lost pet consulting. We are supported solely by donations. Bringing these animals to safety often requires extraordinary patience, specialized skill and equipment, time and resources. In the last year, we have rescued/humanely trapped more than 400 animals in Maricopa County.

Located in Sunnyslope, across the street from Arizona Humane Society, HARTT’s new facility will offer a safe refuge for animals who have been rescued through HARTT’s network of skilled, trained and volunteer humane trappers. The shelter will be these animals’ first stop on their journey to their final new, loving home. We are excited to breathe new life and joy into what was, many years ago, a well-run animal boarding facility. You will see from the photos here (some are before and after pics) we've already been HARD at work for 48 hours cleaning and refreshing the facility.
At our shelter, animals will be able to decompress in spacious, heated and air conditioned housing on clean, soft beds. They will receive yummy, nutritious meals, veterinary care, and lots of attention from our loving staff and volunteers. Then, when ready, they will move into either a foster or transitional housing home, or right into a rescue partner or adoptive family.

In preparation for our move-in, the entire facility was cleaned top to bottom, including air ducts and drains, all the drywall was freshly painted, and yards were secured and prepared for the arrival of our “precious cargo”. This is a BIG step for HARTT, and we need pretty much everything! We want to breathe new life into this new facility, and so we are carefully selecting the items that will be the most effective for our operations and the standard of care we will be providing to our animal guests. We intend to be excellent stewards of your precious contributions, so while we will be buying new equipment, we will be buying discounted “scratch-and-dent” appliances and taking advantage of the immediate sales available during Black Friday. See attached budget in the photos (sorry, it's the only way I could get it to fit!).

If you follow HARTT’s good work in the community, if we have responded to your plea for help or if you have helped an animal you know or have followed, please help us with a contribution during this holiday season; your gift is also tax-deductible and you will be provided with a receipt for your year-end tax planning. If there was ever a time to support HARTT, it’s now. And please SHARE SHARE SHARE! With your funds, we will be purchasing the following much-needed items below. Please join us to be part of this exciting time for HARTT, which will allow us to help even more animals in the community!
