Hartman's Home for the Holidays

Meet The Hartman's! Tom and Marie Hartman have been married for 12 years. They met here in Salida in 2007 through mutual friends. Marie was new to Salida, and they've been inseparable ever since. They have two beautiful children, Jace and Maisy. They live in Salida, Colorado and enjoy everything outdoors and family. Both are extremely hard workers and own their own businesses and they homeschool their two children. I can't speak more highly of this amazing family!

 

Saturday, September 4th marks a day that forever changed the lives of each of the Hartman's. Tom was involved in a serious mountain biking accident and sustained permanent damage to his spinal cord. He is paralyzed from the chest down with limited arm movement and confined to a wheelchair. He has had multiple surgeries and has been in rehab at Craig hospital since his injury. The entire Hartman family has been in Denver since September and neither Tom nor Marie will be able to work in the foreseeable future. Marie has been Tom's rock and cheerleader, at his side and learning everything she needs to learn to be his primary caregiver after discharge.

 

The good news is that after many months, sweat and tears Tom is now to the point where he gets to come HOME and continue his rehab journey in Salida. Our goal is to help The Hartman's come Home for the Holidays by modifying their home to be compatible for Tom. They will need a platform wheelchair lift for their stairs, multiple ramps throughout and bathroom upgrades, all of which are expensive and not covered by insurance. I truly believe small actions x lots of people = big changes! Giving to this cause isn't just about making a donation, giving will make a substantial difference in Tom and his family's life. This gives them a chance to focus on rehab, healing and much needed family time and not stress about the costs of home modifications.
