Imagine walking into a meeting, with your younger brother and mother - to be told by doctors that it was time for you to say goodbye to your father.
Here's a picture of my dad and me from 10 years ago on his 60th Birthday.
In the time since then, his health would steadily decline and the man who raised me was now dependant on me and my mother to look after him, the same way he'd taken care of us.
My father (Harshad Acharya) turned 70 on June 1st 2019, but was hospitalized on 7th June after suffering a severe infection.
My mother spent every waking moment of her day caring for him, and was at the hospital by his side almost every day for almost 4 weeks. The wonderful staff in the ward even joked about my mum applying to work the shifts there, because she was pretty much always there at dad's side. After all they'd been together for about 40 years!

Then one morning, we received a phone call and got asked to come in to the hospital because his condition had vastly deteriorated.
I walked into a meeting, with my younger brother and mother - to be told by doctors that it was time for us to say goodbye to my father.
He passed away within an hour of this meeting at 1:52pm on July 3rd 2019.

I spent my birthday a few days ago, taking my younger brother to the funeral directors to sort out plans for our father's funeral. It wasn't the birthday I imagined, but it was the one I was given this year. I spent it taking care of what I needed to take care of and I felt blessed to have the honour of doing that for dad on the day. He means the world to us, and I can't seem to find the words to express how much I wish he could have been with me for this one.
Here is a birthday picture from much simpler times.

A week ago I had no idea how much is actually involved in the funeral planning process, nor how costly it all is. Things I had never had to consider before such as Doctor's fees (£164), crematorium fees (£715), and even something like flowers were going to be upwards of £200. Not to mention the actual funeral services and accumulating costs that you can't really anticipate.
All I knew is that I had to stay strong and find a way through this overwhelming time.
I have been touched by the number of people who had in some way shape or form contacted me (in some cases after many years) to say "Let me know if you need anything." This inspired me to do this page to allow people to help out in their own way, and pay their last respects to dad.
A picture of Mum, tending to Pops a day after he was admitted to hospital.
The donations will help my family cover the costs of everything involved in the funeral proccess, and will also go towards supporting my family during these hard times. Anything that you can do to help will greatly be appreciated, whether that means making a donation or forwarding this page to some of your trusted contacts.
I myself, will be in charge of the final expenses and hope I can achieve this goal for dad.

Rest in Power.
Thank You all.
