I’m Harry, and I came out as a trans man at the end of 2023. Since then, I’ve been on a journey sorting out my hormones and top surgery.

I walked Ben Nevis in June (2024) in order to raise the funds for top surgery. This was planned to go ahead in November (2024) while out in Istanbul. Prior to going, I sent my full medial history and ran multiple tests, as I was born with a heart condition. Due to nobody’s fault, and the medical language barrier I was refused surgery while out there.

Coming home, without the results I wanted I felt like a failure, and didn’t feel like I deserved to be seen as Trans, which massively affected my mental health.

Since then, I’ve been in touch with a surgeon in Edinburgh. I’ve had two consultations along with meeting with a cardiologist, who have ran tests along with my medical history and have given me the all clear to go ahead.

With that, I have been accepted for a date, 20th March 2025. As you can imagine, the surgery is a lot more expensive here compared to aboard and that’s why I’ve had to re-open a fundraiser.
