Harry's JourneyHarry's Holiday Hangout was set up in memory of our son Harry Griffin Brown.
When Harry was 4 and a half years old he became unwell and was taken to hospital on several occasions, for three months we were told he was suffering with a blocked left colon and servere constipation. We took Harry home, along with medication and did what the doctors had told us to do. After a few weeks Harry still wasn't getting better so we took him back, the hospital did a blood test which came back that there were markers in his white blood cells and sent Harry for an ultrasound scan. To our horror, the doctors found a large mass on Harry's adrenal gland next to the kindey. We were sent home and told that The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital were expecting us the day after.
A day later our world fell apart. Doctors, Consultants and Nurses told us our little boy was very pooly, they took a biopsy of the mass and the results came in, our little boy had Neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer that mostly affects young children. Harry required treatment straight away involving Chemosurgery and Stem Cell Treatment. Sadly after years of battling Neuroblastoma, Harry passed away on May 24th 2015. After Harry passed away, we wanted to honour our brave and courageous boy with a lasting legacy and Harry's Holiday Hangout was created.
Harry's Holiday Hangout aims to provide holidays for kids with cancer to retreat to in between treatment. Our main plan is raising the money to get the caravan we need to provide the holidays. We are hoping to raise £75,000 to purchase them. Once we have the caravans our next plan will be continuing to raise money to fund the holidays so that families are at peace of mind knowing they do not have to worry financially about the holiday, they just need to relax and enjoy their holiday and make lots of happy memories.
