Hi, my name is Will and Im aiming to complete the Berlin marathon on September 24th this year. Along the way I thought Id like to perhaps use my training and race efforts to raise some money for a good cause. I chose Harrys world as I know Harrys Dad and his family quite well from our primary school days. These days, Tipperary hurling games is where I generally meet Denis.

As part of my efforts and fundraising I will also make a donation of the final amount raised to the parents assosiation of Ballycar National School, Ballycar is a small 2 teacher country school outside of Newmarket on Fergus . The majority of funds raised will go to Harrys world.

I was amazed by Harry and his story from the first time I heard about it, a chance meeting with Denis (Harrys Dad) on a train from Sallins to the Aviva for a Republic of Ireland game when Denis and I were chatting about our kids. Heres a bit of Harrys story.

Harry is a happy 7 year old boy. He has the biggest smile that would light up the darkest room. He was born with a rare condition called Genitopatellar syndrome. GPS for short.

This has left Harry with profound disabilities. He is non mobile, non verbal, has epilepsy and visually impaired. He requires 24hr care for all his daily needs.

Harry gets all his food and medication through a feeding tube.

He has osteoporosis which requires bone infusions every 6 months and is currently recovering from orthoptic surgery which corrected his femur bones and contractions on both knees.

He also has bilateral hydronephrosis which causes regular kidney infections.

Harry has obstructive apnea which requires him to wear a bipap machine at night to help with his breathing.

Harry requires specialists equipment for seating and mobility. He attends physio, speech & language and occupational therapy. He also attends the 3 paediatric hospitals Tallaght, crumlin and temple street.

Harry loves horse riding at childvision where he attended preschool. He also attends swimming in enable ireland naas.

Harry gos to school in St Anne’s in the Curragh. His teachers, SNAs and nurses adore Harry and he adores them.

With all Harrys obstacles he is a happy content little boy that loves cuddles sing songs and chats with his family. He loves his little brother Ben and little sister Ruby. They make him laugh.
