Harry’s Story

My sister Janey and her husband Harry have been married for 24 years. Harry retired 2 1/2 years ago and my sister just retired March 8. They were excited to start this new phase of life and were getting ready to embark upon their new adventures. Unfortunately 3 weeks after Janey’s retirement, their world stopped.
Harry was diagnosed with acute leukemia or AML on April 3, 2019. Last Tuesday, the doctors informed my sister and her husband that there were no other treatment options they could do for Harry. His lungs and other complications worsened to the point that no further chemotherapy would be tolerated.
They spent most of last week just trying to get their heads and hearts wrapped around this diagnosis and learning about their end of life options. Harry’s wishes were to be able to go home one last time.
Harry will be going home today under the care of Hospice. If you would like to help Harry and Janey during this very difficult and painful time, I have set up this Go Fund Me page to help them with the full time aide that will be required during these final days which is not covered by Medicare as Harry does not have supplemental insurance.
