HARRY the Greyhound Mix Needs URGENT LEG SURGERY

HARRY needs your help with an URGENT LEG SURGERY so that he can walk properly. The surgery should be done AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.

HARRY'S STORY

Harry is a rescued dog of PEEL ANIMAL RESCUE SOCIETY (PARS), a non-profit animal rescue group. Harry is a very sweet, friendly and happy-go-lucky dog that has come a long way. He is a greyhound mix, about 1 year old, and 60 lbs. Last summer, Harry was attacked on the street in a remote area in Iran. Part of his ear was cut off and his left front leg was broken. A Samaritan rushed Harry to the hospital. A cast was put on his leg and was thought to recover. He needed a home, which is hard to find in Iran. Maryam, a private rescuer, arranged and paid for Harry to fly over to Canada to find him an adoptive home. Unfortunately, it was later found out that Harry's condition was getting worse and he has been walking sideways with his left front leg. Maryam asked PARS for help as she could not afford to treat him anymore.

PARS took Harry in early November and found him a loving foster home. After X-rays and a consultation with an orthopedist, it was concluded that surgery is the only way to fix Harry's leg so he can walk normally. If the surgery is not done, not only will Harry always be in discomfort, but he would suffer from atrophy of muscles resulting in pain and arthritis a few years down the road. The surgery is called Corrective Osteotomy surgery and a CT scan is also needed beforehand. The cost for the surgery is estimated to be $4,000 and $1,400 for the CT Scan. With post-surgery visits and medications, our goal is to raise $6,500.

Right now, PARS is having a serious shortage of funds due to the pandemic and we cannot afford the surgery fees. We are appealing for donations for Harry so that the surgery can be performed ASAP.
