Just a little information/ backstory:

Unfortunately my father, Harry Sturges, was admitted to the hospital with low blood pressure and dizzy spells. A couple days into his stay at the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and his already Afib heart went into Vfib. Fortunately, he was resuscitated and intubated for 72 hours where he underwent targeted temperature management (purposeful cooling of the body).

After extubation and a slow wake up from sedatives, he regained consciousness and alertness which gave me hope of recovery and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, a supposed adverse effect of TTE is pneumonia and/or sepsis-- both of which he developed while in the ICU.

We were together the day before he passed which was the best blessing I've ever been given-- I was able to bathe him, kiss him and hold him, and he even called me an hour and 20 minutes before he ultimately went into cardiac arrest again and was unable to be resuscitated.

To say this is a huge shock is an understatement-- and not just for me, but for my son, Benton. He passed the day before Benton was able to go see him-- my father most likely did NOT want Benton to see him in the hospital. Benton was the light of his life.

Why I'm fundraising

At the present moment with the holidays among us, I am tasked with everything that comes after the death of a loved one-- I am my father's only child. Like his father and mother before him, my father's wish was to be cremated. I have employed the services of a funeral home, and he has been transferred to the crematory-- I would love to view/visit his body before cremation and have him cremated and placed into keepsake urns (for myself and multiples for Benton to keep forever), but this process is not cheap, and I would be eternally grateful for help.

I am making this GoFundMe in hopes of financial help from family and/or friends who might find it in their heart to donate-- no matter the size or amount of the donation. I KNOW this could not come at a worse time during the holidays-- so please do not feel at all obligated. The emotional support I have received from loved ones has been a true blessing that I cannot put into words to describe. I am attaching the pricing from the funeral home without the header or signature from the funeral home in hopes to keep the details private from those that have malintent.
