Harry M. Snyder Jr. passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep on the night of March 20th, 2021. He was 50 years old.
Harry had a passion for showing his love for people through his cooking. When Harry's father in law, Jim, was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2010 and had difficulty eating due to nausea and lack of appetite from chemotherapy, Harry worked tirelessly searching for food that would provide comfort.
After Jim's passing in October of 2010, Harry was inspired to work at Grand Strand Health, and joined the hospital's kitchen that December. Harry used his culinary magic for nearly 11 years, caring for patients in their most vulnerable time.
From March 2020 to March 2021, through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Harry realized that it was the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff that needed love and comfort as well.
Harry always said "You need to keep the people you're cooking for in your heart and pour in as much love as you can."
The one thing Harry loved more than cooking was his family. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 28 years, Angel, and their two children, Sadie (20), and Jude (16).
Harry's dream was for both Sadie and Jude to be able to pursue a college education. They will be the family's first generation to attend college. Sadie is currently a junior in college at the University of South Carolina, using her earned scholarships to pursue degrees in Media Arts and Environmental Studies. Jude is currently a sophomore in high school with plans on earning a college degree after graduation. The funds from this campaign will be used to fulfill Harry's dream and will be put towards expenses acquired during Jude's college journey.
